Graphic Design Certificate of Achievement
The Graphic Design Certificate of Achievement curriculum prepares students for entry-level positions in the field of graphic design, digital media, content creation, UX design, interaction design, web design, motion graphics, photography, animation, and video production. The skills covered include production processes, design thinking, project management, and collaborative teamwork. The program stresses design thinking processes as well as the professional and production methods used currently in industry. This program provides students with a comprehensive hands-on education that prepares them to earn industry-standard certifications. Students emerge with design practices to develop and produce marketing materials for their professional portfolio. Students develop a portfolio from projects that require written, oral, and visual presentations. The program also places an emphasis on creativity, design skills, digital portfolios, project management, problem-solving, global teamwork, and entrepreneurship options.
Upon satisfactory completion of this program students will be able to:
- Understand and apply the vocabulary of the graphic design field, design research, and the process of design thinking.
- Create advanced original design projects that analyze, define, and solve problems in visual communications.
- Utilize the critique process and research to analyze the effectiveness of visual communications on graphic design projects.
- Apply knowledge of page layout software to produce graphic design projects.
- Create and present a portfolio of original student work that reflects an advanced understanding of visual communication and design principles.
