What are Basic Skills?
Every college student needs a set of basic skills to navigate the world of higher education and to succeed at participating in college level learning. These skills are normally acquired in the course of elementary and secondary study, and they typically include: time management, reading and note taking methods, test taking strategies, and clear, concise writing. Everyone could use a refresher, and Tutoring and Academic Skills Center provides a series of live workshops and exciting videos in the TASC Canvas page that touch on those topics and the places where students can learn more about them! TASC videos in Canvas provide guidance for the following: accessing support resources such as tutors, research sites, citation guidance (MLA and APA), ESL and math resources, and tips for succeeding with online learning and tutors.
Visit a TASC lab (please see schedule below) or the TASC website for more information. We want to collaborate with you for your success. Stop by any of the five TASC locations listed below, and let's get started!
