Learning Outcomes

The Research and Argument Certificate explores the basic elements of academic research and argumentative writing. The courses in this certificate prepare students for the rigors of academic research and argumentative writing that are expected in courses across the curriculum.

Learning Outcomes

Upon satisfactory completion of this program students will be able to:

  1. Evaluate the relevance and validity of research sources.
  2. Employ the rules of citation and documentation in academic writing.
  3. Analyze the rhetoric of various genres of argument (e.g., academic, journalistic, and political).
