Health Science AS Degree

The Associate of Science in Health Science provides courses which are the foundation to professional career opportunities in the health science, public health and environmental fields. The degree emphasizes an ecological approach to health issues in the community and to provide students with the tools and knowledge necessary to understand factors contributing to the promotion of optimal health and well-being.

Learning Outcomes

Upon satisfactory completion of this program students will be able to:

  1. Students will be eligible and prepared for transfer to related nursing and health science degree programs.
  2. Students will describe the anatomy and organization of human cells, tissues, organs, and systems.
  3. Students will explain how common diseases negatively impact normal human anatomy and physiology of essential body systems.
  4. Students will identify major health issues and evaluate how human behaviors impact various dimensions of health and wellness.
  5. Students will be equipped with specific knowledge and skills important for maintaining a healthful individual and community environment.
