Social Science AA Degree
Social science is a broad category rooted in how humans interact with the world, society, and institutions. It branches off into multiple disciplines such as anthropology, history, psychology, sociology, ethnic studies, philosophy, and political science, which use research to understand various aspects of thought and behavior. Social Science courses are designed to provide you with an understanding and appreciation of the many differing areas and cultural experiences in the United States, all while strengthening your analytical and critical thinking skills. A social science degree can prepare you for success in a number of professional fields.
Learning Outcomes
Upon satisfactory completion of this program students will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding the methods by which the social sciences study individuals, cultures, and societies.
- Apply concepts from the social sciences to explain or analyze a social phenomenon, process, event, conflict, or issue.
- Analyze a variety of primary and secondary sources in the fields of anthropology, geography, history, philosophy, political science, psychology, and/or sociology and draw scholarly interpretations.
