Mathematics AS Degree

The Associate in Science in Mathematics, also called the Mathematics AS degree, provides students with knowledge of and experience with the study of quantity, structure, space, and change. Students who complete this degree also develop skills and knowledge involving abstraction and logical reasoning.

This Mathematics AS degree requires students to do the following:

  • Complete 28 semester units of required Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science courses;
  • Complete an additional 32 semester units (which should be approved by a counselor) of transferable courses, a subset of which satisfy the General Education requirements for College of the Desert; and
  • Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of degree-applicable courses,
  • Minimum overall grade point average of 2.0,
  • Minimum grade of “C” (or “P”) for each course in the major, and
  • Completion of IGETC and/or CSU GE-Breadth
