Arborist Technician Certificate of Achievement

This program provides entry level instruction in the proper identification, cultural practices, disease identification, planting and management of landscape trees. Career opportunities include landscape and irrigation management of trees, pest management and pesticide application, tree management safety skills, and nursery sales and management of trees.

Learning Outcomes

Upon satisfactory completion of this program students will be able to:

  1. Acquire proficiency in identifying tree diseases, pests, and environmental stressors, assessing tree health, and implementing appropriate maintenance techniques.
  2. Demonstrate competence in safe tree climbing techniques using industry-standard equipment. As part of their training, they will demonstrate proficiency in tree rigging methods for efficient and safe tree removal, pruning, and maintenance operations, adhering to industry safety standards and best practices.
  3. An understanding of urban forestry management principles and arboriculture practices will be gained by students. Through the development of tree management plans, arboricultural strategies, and a thorough understanding of factors such as species selection, site conditions, and community needs, these students will be able to enhance the ecological, aesthetic, and social value of urban tree populations.
