Construction Technology Introduction Certificate of Completion

The Construction Technology Introduction Certificate of Completion provides students with an in-depth analysis of the organization and structure of the construction industry and the many career choices the industry offers.  The certificate emphasizes green construction practices, jobsite safety, practical knowledge of tool and equipment use, basic construction math, basic rigging techniques, and communication as well as employability skills. Guest speakers and site visits provide students a wide view of the expectations of entry-level work, wages, benefits, and work place culture.

Students completing this certificate may seek an entry level career in the construction industry; pursue additional training in Site Preparation and Layout,  Framing Carpentry, Electrical Construction Technology, Plumbing Construction Technology, Concrete and Masonry, and Exterior Finishes.  Students may also apply for credit by exam to transfer into a credit certificate or degree in Construction Management, Building and Energy Systems Professional, or Architecture/Drafting. Learning Outcomes

Upon satisfactory completion of this program students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the safety, environment, tools and equipment, and math concepts required for an entry level position in the construction field.
  2. Understand the variety of careers in the construction field, the training requirements for each and the opportunity for pursuing a California Contractor’s License.
  3. Apply critical thinking skills to execute daily duties in their area of employment.
