Real Estate Development Certificate of Achievement

The Certificate of Achievement in Real Estate Development is designed to serve students seeking either to enter or enhance their careers in the Real Estate profession. The courses in the certificate program will provide the foundational knowledge for a person to enter the profession of Real Estate as a developer, manager or investor.

Career paths chosen by students pursuing undergraduate studies in real estate development include small business owners, residential or commercial real estate developers, construction managers and members of the trades. The student usually enters the real development field from the construction industry and advances either in a corporate or private pathway to management or entrepreneurship. All courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or better.

Learning Outcomes

1. Prepare current and future construction and real estate development professionals for the dynamic challenges of succeeding in the field of real estate development.
2. Encourage students to develop a sense of the scope of the Real Estate Development industry and an understanding of the basic requirements for success in the future.
3. Enable College of the Desert to foster articulations with four-year universities who offer degrees in this field.
4. Allow students to complete the certificate program while working part or full-time, with courses offered during the day and evening through traditional means, in concentrated seminars, as well as offered over the Internet when possible/appropriate.
