Intersegmental GE Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) Certificate of Achievement

Students may complete their lower-division general education coursework at College of the Desert prior to transfer to a four-year institution. The UC system requires 60 completed transferable units for students to enter as an upper-division student. The general education units, 35-43, combined with major preparation must be equal to or greater than 60 transferable units prior to enrollment.  Students should view major specific requirements on and consult with a counselor for major-specific transfer planning.

The remaining coursework to earn a bachelor's degree is to be completed in the upper- division at the institution granting the degree. Once a student has earned the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) Certificate of Achievement, the Office of Admissions and Records will automatically award the certificate provided the student completes a degree or certificate application through the student portal.

Students may earn a certificate of achievement by completing 35-43 units of the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) pattern. Please consult with a counselor for questions or for additional information.
